Maui is beautiful. I’ve covered some of the same terrain. Mesmerizing. I like the concept of playing. It can help to relax and enjoy the moment. And you may learn a few things along the way. Thanks for sharing.
Now you did it. I’ve driven that route as a survivor not a driver! And slack key! Thursday nights at Napili Kai Beach Resort those wonderful musicians are there playing at their best.
..hmm, the last time?? Every time I get behind the wheel! Git to drive Dad’s ‘65 Datsun pickup at age 12…been lovin’ motor vehicles ever since. Having spent lotsa weeks in NW Maui this story was a double joy reminder! Thank you! Plus the music-a triple joy!

Excellent read. If you can't get to such an incredible island do what Brent does on the Staycation episode of the award-winning Canadian comedy series Corner Gas. https://youtu.be/vh73p5RxmAA. Corner Gas series available on Amazon Prime. The two theme songs from band Odds is worthy. "My Happy Place".
Few of my family or friends "get" why I go for a drive almost every morning. It sets my day. I try to play with the Car or Bike. Learning as I go. Usually end with a smile.
Aloha, Ross! I really enjoyed this post and it brought back fond memories of my many trips to the Hawaiian islands. A couple random thoughts: Every time I get behind the wheel, I consider it street driving practice. Sometimes I can play if there's no one around, but mostly it's just satisfying to see how well I can do today and to learn from the mistakes I make (and trust me, there are plenty of them I still commit after all these years of being a driving "expert"). Second, play is incredibly vital and we don't do enough of it. Third, watch out a for a certain spot when you're in Hana—there is at least one black bull cow that likes to hang out on State Route 360 (near 46756 Hana Hwy), either lurking at the edge of the road or crossing it. I've seen him multiple times in almost the same spot during different years. He's pretty dang hard to see at night and like the islanders, he's in no hurry, so be careful.

Well, I had fun, reading about you having fun, suggesting I should remember to always try to have some fun, in most everything I do.
I best get going then!
Cheers, Ross.
Nice one Ross

Awesome! Gotta love a good hike. I’m moving closer to the mountains here soon, and can’t wait. Thanks for sharing.

Love this one. Also makes me wish I were playing on my mtn bike here. :D
Play/learning play are vastly under-rated. Thank you for the inspiring words.
Another Ross tour-de-force classic. Loved it!!
